Where to start, well I have seen  Rory Gallagher for the first time at the “IJsselhallen” in Zwolle, Holland, 1978.

What a concert, it was the best music that I’ve ever heard and what a performance!

It looks like he played the guitar so easy that everyone could do it.

Later when I got a guitar from my girlfriend (now my wife) and try to play it , I discovered that it is very difficult to play guitar

and you have to practice day in and out to learn it a little.

( But I’m lefthanded, just like Jimi Hendrix, so what could  be the problem???)

After one hour of playing  the guitar missed already three strings so I gave up.

When God gave away the talents, I think He must have had a triangle for me in  mind.

From that first concert in Zwolle, I was a fan.

I have seen Rory Gallagher playing live in concert several times since then .

The last Rory Gallagher concert I‘ve seen was at Paradiso, Amsterdam, Holland 1995. It was not his best concert but I’m glad I was there.

What more can I say about Rory Gallagher.

That he was born in Ireland on 2 ^th of march 1948 , got his first accoustic guitar when he was nine, played in several  showbands , formed his first professional band called Taste , played on the Isle of Wight Festival, went to play solo in ’70. Rory was voted as the best solo guitar player of ’72 , recorded one of the best live albums ever made (Irish Tour ’74 ), died on 14^th june 1995 ….etc etc   but I think there are lots of other sites where you can find more and better information about Rory Gallagher.

 I began to collect Rory Gallagher items soon after his death in 1995.

On this site you’ll find some things of Rory Gallagher and Taste that I collected in the past years.

And I hope that someday my collection will be complete (which it’s impossible, you can’t have everything) but not to soon because otherwise my hobby ( collecting , searching) is over!!!!!

Last thing …about what I like the most of his concerts.  You’ll never know when and how the song will end. Every concert is different. Maybe the same setlist but songs are always played in a different style or solo.

For me Rory is the best guitar player that had walked on this planet and hope that soon comes a new one that can play the guitar like Rory Gallagher did. The Dutch guitarist Julian Sas is doing a great job now.

I hope to visit Ireland someday to look where it all started but I heard that everyone is driving on the other side of the road there . It might be a short trip for me. I will crash direct to the first car I’ll meet !!
